Quick & Easy Homemade Butter Chicken

This homemade butter chicken is everything you want in a cozy dinner: tender chunks of chicken simmered in a rich, creamy tomato sauce with warm spices. It’s quick enough for a busy weekday and comforting enough for the weekend. Serve it with rice or naan for a kid-friendly meal that everyone loves.

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4):

  • 500g (1 lb) boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cubed
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • ½ cup heavy cream (or coconut cream for dairy-free)
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Marinate the chicken in yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, paprika, and turmeric for 15–30 mins.
  2. Heat oil or butter in a pan. Add onions, cook until soft. Stir in garlic, ginger, cumin, and chili powder.
  3. Add marinated chicken and cook until browned.
  4. Pour in tomato puree. Simmer for 10 minutes until chicken is fully cooked.
  5. Stir in cream, adjust salt, and simmer for 5 more minutes.
  6. Garnish with cilantro and serve with rice or naan.
