Ingredients
  

Meatballs
  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20
  • 0.5 lb Italian sausage
  • 0.75 cup ricotta cheese whole milk
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 egg large
  • 0.75 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tsp oregano dried
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
Sauce & Topping
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese extra for topping
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese extra for garnish
  • 5-6 leaves fresh basil for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine ground beef and sausage in a large bowl.
  3. Add ricotta, Parmesan, mozzarella, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
  4. Form into 1 1/2-inch meatballs.
  5. Heat olive oil in oven-safe skillet and brown meatballs on all sides.
  6. Pour marinara sauce over meatballs.
  7. Top with extra mozzarella.
  8. Bake 20–25 minutes until cooked through and bubbly.

Notes

Do not overmix the meatball mixture. Use whole milk ricotta for best texture.
