Method
- Toast bread cubes at 300°F (150°C) for 20–25 minutes until dry and crisp.
- Brown sausage in a skillet, breaking it into crumbles. Remove and set aside.
- Add butter to pan drippings, cook onion and celery until softened.
- Stir in garlic and herbs, cooking 1 minute more.
- Combine bread cubes, sausage, and vegetable mixture in a bowl.
- Add broth and eggs, mixing gently until moistened.
- Transfer to a greased 9x13 dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes.
Notes
For a crisp top, bake uncovered. For softer stuffing, bake covered with foil.
