  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped apples peeled or unpeeled
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a loaf pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon.
  3. Cream butter and brown sugar, then beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients and milk into wet mixture.
  5. Fold in chopped apples and nuts.
  6. Pour batter into pan, bake 50–60 minutes until golden and toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool 10 minutes, transfer to wire rack, slice, and serve.

Notes

Store at room temperature 3–4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
