Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 2 cups diced apples
Apple Layer
  • 2 apples thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
Crumble Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup rolled oats
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch springform pan with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the crumble topping by mixing flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cold butter until crumbly. Refrigerate.
  3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Beat butter and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk until combined.
  6. Fold diced apples into the batter.
  7. Spread batter into prepared pan and top with sliced apples.
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over apples and cover with crumble topping.
  9. Bake 45–55 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, drizzle caramel sauce over the cake before serving. Best enjoyed warm.
