Cheeseburger French Fry Casserole

A cheesy, beefy comfort food casserole that combines the best parts of a classic cheeseburger and crispy fries in one easy dish.

Ingredients
  

Casserole Base
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 10.5 oz condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 4 cups frozen French fries
  • 0.25 cup chopped pickles optional
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions optional garnish

  • Large skillet
  • 9×13 inch baking dish
  • Mixing spoon
  • Oven

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onions until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add garlic, salt, pepper, ketchup, and mustard. Stir and cook 2–3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream and condensed cheese soup.
  5. Spread beef mixture in baking dish. Top with 1 cup cheese, then layer frozen fries on top.
  6. Bake uncovered 30–35 minutes until fries are golden.
  7. Add remaining cheese and bake 5 more minutes until melted.
  8. Garnish with pickles and green onions before serving.

Notes

For extra crunch, bake fries separately halfway before adding.
