Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract.
- Mix in dry ingredients alternately with apple cider until smooth.
- Spread batter evenly into pan and smooth top.
- Bake 18–22 minutes until lightly golden. Cool completely.
- Beat butter with powdered sugar and vanilla. Add cream, lemon juice, and zest.
- Spread lemon filling over cooled base. Chill 1 hour before slicing.

Optional: Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
