  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable or sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce optional
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds for garnish

Method
 

  1. Toss chicken with 1 tsp cornstarch and a pinch of salt.
  2. Blanch broccoli in boiling water for 1-2 minutes, then transfer to ice water. Drain and set aside.
  3. Whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, chicken broth, sugar, and 1 tsp cornstarch. Set aside.
  4. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. Sauté garlic and ginger in remaining oil for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Add broccoli to skillet, toss for 1-2 minutes. Return chicken to pan.
  7. Pour sauce over chicken and broccoli. Stir until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate chicken in 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp sesame oil for 15 minutes before cooking.
