  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
Sugar Syrup
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar

Equipment

Method

  1. Activate yeast in warm milk with sugar until foamy.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add eggs, vanilla, and yeast mixture to form dough.
  3. Knead in softened butter until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let dough rise until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare chocolate filling by melting butter and chocolate, then stirring in remaining ingredients.
  6. Roll dough into rectangle, spread filling, and roll into log.
  7. Slice lengthwise, twist halves together, and place in loaf pan.
  8. Rise again until puffy.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 35–40 minutes.
  10. Brush warm loaf with sugar syrup and cool completely.

Notes

Chilling the rolled dough before twisting helps create defined chocolate swirls.
