Ingredients
  

Chocolate Sponge Cake
  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 4 eggs large, room temperature
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Creamy Filling
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream cold
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Ganache
  • 0.75 cup heavy cream
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chopped

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Beat eggs and sugar until pale, thick, and doubled in volume. Add vanilla.
  4. Fold dry ingredients gently into egg mixture.
  5. Spread batter evenly and bake 10–12 minutes until set.
  6. Roll warm cake in a towel and cool completely.
  7. Prepare filling and spread over cooled cake, then re-roll.
  8. Pour warm ganache over chilled cake roll and let set.

Notes

Chill before slicing for clean, defined swirls.
