  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas about 2–3 medium
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg large
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x9-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mash bananas in a large bowl until mostly smooth.
  3. Add melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar; whisk until combined.
  4. Mix in egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Stir in chocolate chips, reserving a few for topping.
  8. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  9. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
