Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Filling
  • 0.75 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp butter

  • Mixing bowls
  • Steamer pot or bamboo steamer
  • Wire rack
  • Stand mixer or hand mixer

Method
 

  1. Melt chocolate, cream, and butter in a saucepan until smooth, then let cool slightly.
  2. Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, salt, oil, and vanilla, mixing to form a dough.
  4. Knead dough 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover dough and allow it to rise for 60 minutes until doubled.
  6. Divide dough into 10–12 pieces and flatten each into a circle.
  7. Place chocolate filling in the center and seal dough tightly.
  8. Rest buns 15 minutes before steaming.
  9. Steam buns 12–15 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.

Notes

Ensure buns are sealed tightly so chocolate filling does not leak during steaming.
