Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
Baking Soda Bath
  • 8 cups water
  • 0.5 cup baking soda
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast in warm water with sugar until foamy.
  2. Mix in flour, salt, and melted butter. Knead until smooth.
  3. Let dough rise until doubled in size.
  4. Divide dough, roll into ropes, and shape into pretzels.
  5. Boil pretzels briefly in baking soda bath.
  6. Bake at 425°F for 12–15 minutes until golden.
  7. Brush with melted butter and coat in cinnamon sugar.

Notes

Best served warm. Can be frozen before coating and reheated.
