Creamy Garlic Parmesan Tortellini with Sausage and Broccoli

Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage casings removed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.25 tsp crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 package cheese tortellini fresh or refrigerated, 20 oz
  • 2 cups broccoli florets fresh or frozen
  • salt and pepper to taste
Garnish
  • fresh parsley chopped
  • extra Parmesan for topping

  • Large skillet or sauté pan
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet and cook sausage until browned. Remove and set aside.
  2. Add butter to the same pan, sauté garlic until fragrant.
  3. Pour in cream and broth, whisk to combine. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Add tortellini and simmer for 6–8 minutes until tender and sauce thickens.
  5. Stir in broccoli and cooked sausage, simmer another 2–3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan cheese until creamy. Serve hot with parsley and extra Parmesan.

Notes

Use turkey sausage for a lighter version. Add spinach for extra greens.
