Ingredients
  

Chicken Base
  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 carrots sliced
  • 2 celery stalks sliced
  • 1 onion diced
  • 3 tbsp butter
Dumplings
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp butter cold, cubed
  • 0.75 cup milk

Equipment

  • Crock pot
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups

Method
 

  1. Add chicken, vegetables, broth, milk, butter, and seasonings to the crock pot.
  2. Cook on LOW for 6 hours or HIGH for 4 hours until chicken is tender.
  3. Remove chicken, shred, and return to crock pot.
  4. Mix dumpling ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  5. Drop dumplings onto hot mixture, cover, and cook 30–40 minutes.

Notes

Do not lift lid while dumplings cook for best texture.
