- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl.
- Add eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
- Stir in hot coffee slowly. Batter will be thin.
- Divide into pans and bake 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes completely on wire racks.
- Heat cream until steaming, pour over chocolate, and let sit 3–4 minutes. Stir until smooth, then add butter.
- Layer cakes with ganache, then pour ganache over the top, letting it drip down the sides.
- Garnish with edible gold leaf or pistachios.
Notes
For best flavor, use premium dark chocolate and don’t skip the coffee — it deepens the chocolate intensity. Chill the cake before slicing for cleaner cuts.
