Ingredients
  

Pineapple Topping
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 20 oz pineapple slices juice reserved
  • 10-12 maraschino cherries
Cake Batter
  • 1 box Duncan Hines yellow cake mix
  • 3 eggs large
  • 0.33 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup pineapple juice from can

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. Pour melted butter into the pan and sprinkle brown sugar evenly over it.
  3. Arrange pineapple slices and cherries over the sugar layer.
  4. Mix cake mix, eggs, oil, and pineapple juice until smooth.
  5. Pour batter gently over the fruit layer and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool 10 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.

Notes

Let the cake rest briefly before flipping to ensure a clean release.
