- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Stir in shredded cheddar and chives until coated.
- Whisk eggs, milk, and melted butter in another bowl.
- Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients, stir until just combined.
- Pour batter into loaf pan, sprinkle extra cheddar on top.
- Bake 45–50 minutes until golden and toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to wire rack.
- Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For variation, add jalapeños, bacon bits, or mixed herbs. Store at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate up to 5 days.
