Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- In a skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Drain fat, add onion and garlic, and cook until fragrant.
- In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk.
- Layer half the potatoes in the baking dish, top with half of the beef mixture, half the sauce, and half the cheese. Repeat layers.
- Cover with foil and bake for 50 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden.
- Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
Use a mandoline for even potato slices. Substitute cream of chicken soup for a milder flavor.
