Ingredients
  

Sweet Potato Filling
  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.5 cup milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.5 tsp salt
Pecan Topping
  • 0.75 cup pecans chopped
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.33 cup unsalted butter softened

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Boil sweet potatoes until fork-tender, then drain and mash until smooth.
  3. Mix mashed sweet potatoes with butter, sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, spices, and salt.
  4. Spread mixture evenly into prepared baking dish.
  5. Combine pecans, flour, brown sugar, and butter until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle topping evenly over sweet potatoes.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and heated through.

Notes

Marshmallows may be added during the last 5–7 minutes of baking if desired.
