- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.
- Melt butter and chopped chocolate until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Whisk in granulated and brown sugar until glossy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
- Fold in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips if using.
- Spread batter evenly in pan and bake 28–32 minutes.
- Cool completely before slicing into squares.
