Ingredients
  

Rice Base
  • 2 cups long-grain white rice rinsed
  • 4 cups vegetable broth or chicken broth
  • 1 medium onion finely diced
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • lemon wedges for serving

Method
 

  1. Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs mostly clear. Drain well.
  2. Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add diced onion and sauté until softened and translucent.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  5. Add turmeric, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine evenly.
  6. Add the rinsed rice and toast lightly for 1–2 minutes.
  7. Pour in the broth and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  8. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender.
  9. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
  10. Garnish with parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

For extra flavor, use homemade broth and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving.
