Ingredients
  

Mozzarella Sticks
  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks cut in half
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs large
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1.5 cups Italian breadcrumbs
  • 0.5 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • marinara sauce for serving

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet

Method
 

  1. Cut mozzarella sticks in half and pat dry.
  2. Prepare flour, egg mixture, and breadcrumb mixture in separate bowls.
  3. Coat cheese in flour, egg, and breadcrumbs, then repeat for double coating.
  4. Freeze breaded sticks for at least 1 hour.
  5. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry sticks 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with marinara sauce.

Notes

Freezing before frying prevents cheese from leaking and ensures perfect texture.
