Ingredients
  

Sandwich Base
  • 8 slices artisan sourdough bread
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 0.5 cup basil pesto
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 leaves fresh basil optional garnish

  • Large skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Butter knife

Method
 

  1. Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice evenly.
  3. Spread basil pesto on the unbuttered side of half the bread slices.
  4. Layer provolone, mozzarella, parmesan, and garlic powder over pesto.
  5. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
  6. Cook sandwiches for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  7. Slice and garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Use fresh pesto and quality artisan bread for the best flavor. Pair with tomato soup or salad for a complete meal.
