Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Place bread cubes evenly in dish.
- Whisk eggs, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Add milk, cream, butter, and vanilla; mix well.
- Pour custard over bread and press gently.
- Bake 45–55 minutes until set and golden.
- Simmer sauce ingredients until slightly thickened.
- Serve warm with vanilla sauce.
Notes
Use stale bread for best texture. Sauce can be made ahead and reheated.
