Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or decorative Halloween serving dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream until smooth and well blended.
  3. Gradually mix in the buffalo wing sauce and pumpkin puree until the mixture takes on a vibrant orange color.
  4. Add the minced garlic, smoked paprika, onion powder, and cayenne pepper, stirring until evenly distributed.
  5. Fold in the shredded chicken, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, and all of the mozzarella cheese until well combined.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, then transfer the mixture to your prepared baking dish.
  7. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese and sprinkle with chopped green onions for a festive garnish.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the dip is hot, bubbly, and the cheese on top is golden brown.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Garnish with additional green onions and serve immediately with orange and black tortilla chips, celery sticks, and Halloween crackers.

Notes

The pumpkin puree not only adds the perfect Halloween orange color but also provides a subtle sweetness that balances the buffalo heat. This dip can be made ahead and reheated, and actually tastes better after the flavors have time to meld overnight.
