Method
- In a bowl combine warm milk, water, sugar and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Whisk in melted butter, eggs and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl mix flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients to form a soft dough.
- Fold in raisins and orange zest.
- Knead dough 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in greased bowl, cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
- Divide dough into 12 balls and place on lined baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise again 30–40 minutes.
- Mix flour and water paste and pipe crosses over buns.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled buns before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor soak raisins in warm orange juice for 10 minutes before adding to dough.
