Ingredients
  

Crullers
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Hot Buttered Rum Glaze
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp dark rum
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 pinch nutmeg

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture until smooth dough forms.
  5. Pipe dough into 4-inch rings on prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly.
  7. Melt butter for glaze and whisk in powdered sugar, rum, milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
  8. Dip warm crullers into glaze or drizzle over top. Let set before serving.

Notes

Use a large star tip for classic cruller ridges. Serve warm for best flavor.
