Ingredients
  

Hot Chocolate Base
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 oz dark chocolate chopped
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Toppings
  • 0.25 cup liquor Irish cream, bourbon, or rum
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream

Method
 

  1. Heat milk and cream in a saucepan over medium heat until steaming.
  2. Whisk in cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until smooth.
  3. Add chopped chocolate and whisk until melted and thick.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour into mugs and stir in liquor.
  6. Top with ice cream and desired garnishes. Serve immediately.

Notes

Adjust liquor type and amount to taste. Add toppings just before serving.
