Ingredients

Dough
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 0.75 cup warm water 110°F
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
Filling
  • 0.5 cup marinara sauce plus more for dipping
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup provolone cheese shredded
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 0.5 cup pepperoni slices
  • 0.5 cup ham sliced
  • 0.5 cup cooked Italian sausage optional
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.25 tsp crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • 1 egg beaten for egg wash

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. If making dough from scratch, activate yeast in warm water, then mix with flour, sugar, salt, and olive oil. Knead and let rise 1 hour.
  3. Roll dough into a 12x15-inch rectangle. Spread thin layer of marinara, leaving 1-inch border.
  4. Layer cheeses, meats, and seasonings evenly over dough.
  5. Roll tightly from long edge, seal seam, and tuck ends underneath.
  6. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle Parmesan. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool slightly, slice, and serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Use parchment to make rolling easier. For a crispier crust, brush the Stromboli with garlic butter right after baking.
