Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- Cook onion and garlic in olive oil until softened.
- Add ground meat if using and cook until browned. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer.
- Mix ricotta, egg, parsley, and salt in a bowl until smooth.
- Layer sauce, ravioli, ricotta mixture, and cheese in baking dish.
- Repeat layers, finishing with sauce and mozzarella/parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes, then uncover and bake 10–15 minutes until bubbly.
- Let rest 10 minutes, garnish with basil, and serve warm.
Notes
Using frozen ravioli gives best structure. Letting the casserole rest ensures clean slices.
