Ingredients
  

Sandwich Base
  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 medium onion finely diced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil or butter
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 4 hoagie or hero rolls toasted
  • 1 cup iceberg lettuce shredded
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 4 tbsp ketchup
  • salt and pepper to taste

  • Griddle or large skillet

Method
 

  1. Slice and toast the rolls, then spread mayo and ketchup on each side.
  2. Cook onions in oil over medium-high heat until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Chop as it cooks.
  4. Divide into portions and top each with cheese, letting it melt, then chop and mix together.
  5. Assemble sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, and the chopped cheese mixture. Serve hot.
