Ingredients
  

Custard
  • 2.5 cups whole milk
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract

  • 4 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafers
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Method
 

  1. Whisk sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan. Slowly add milk and egg yolks.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
  4. Layer wafers, bananas, and custard in a dish.
  5. Repeat layers and finish with custard.
  6. Whip cream with powdered sugar and spread on top.
  7. Chill at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

Best served within 24 hours for optimal texture.
