Ingredients
  

Skillet Base
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cups potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
Cheese Sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded, divided
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp dried thyme
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp parsley chopped, for garnish

Method
 

  1. Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
  2. Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.
  3. Push beef aside, melt butter, and stir in flour to create a roux.
  4. Gradually add milk and broth, whisking until thickened.
  5. Add potatoes, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  6. Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  7. Stir in 1½ cups cheese, top with remaining cheese, and cover until melted.
  8. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Use a mandoline for even potato slices. Add veggies for color and flavor.
