Ingredients
  

Sandwich Filling
  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
Sandwich Assembly
  • 8 slices thick sandwich bread
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter softened

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Cutting board
  • Knife

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook onions and peppers until softened, then remove and set aside.
  2. Increase heat to medium-high and cook the sliced steak with salt and pepper until browned.
  3. Return vegetables to the skillet, mix with steak, and cook briefly.
  4. Butter bread slices and assemble sandwiches with cheese, steak mixture, and more cheese.
  5. Cook sandwiches in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  6. Rest briefly, slice, and serve hot.

Notes

Use ribeye for best flavor and slice steak very thin for authentic texture.
