  • 1 sleeve buttery crackers such as Ritz or saltines
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1.5 cups chocolate chips semi-sweet or dark
  • flaky sea salt for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange crackers in a single layer to cover the sheet.
  3. Melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until bubbling, then cook 3 minutes until thickened.
  4. Pour caramel over crackers, spreading evenly. Bake for 5 minutes until bubbling.
  5. Remove from oven, sprinkle chocolate chips on top, let melt, and spread evenly.
  6. Sprinkle flaky sea salt and chill until set, about 30 minutes.
  7. Break into bite-sized pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Add nuts, pretzels, or coconut flakes for variation.
