Ingredients
  

Bagel Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
Herb Cream Cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 tbsp parsley chopped
  • 1 tbsp chives chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Wire rack
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast in warm water with sugar until frothy.
  2. Mix in flour, salt, garlic, parmesan, and olive oil to form dough.
  3. Knead until smooth and let rise until doubled.
  4. Shape into bagels and rest briefly.
  5. Boil bagels briefly in sweetened water.
  6. Top with parmesan and herbs.
  7. Bake until golden brown.
  8. Mix herb cream cheese ingredients until smooth and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, roast garlic before adding to dough.
