Ingredients
  

Shrimp
  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lime juiced
Spicy Cilantro Lime Sauce
  • 0.5 cup sour cream
  • 0.25 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 jalapeño seeded if desired
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 limes juiced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
Taco Assembly
  • 8 corn tortillas small
  • 2 cups purple cabbage shredded
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 0.25 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime cut into wedges
  • 0.25 cup cotija cheese optional

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Large skillet
  • Blender or food processor

Method
 

  1. Pat shrimp dry and place in a bowl.
  2. Add olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and lime juice. Toss well.
  3. Marinate shrimp for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Blend sour cream, mayonnaise, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, lime juice, olive oil, salt, and hot sauce until smooth.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Cook shrimp for 2 to 3 minutes per side until pink and lightly charred.
  7. Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or over an open flame.
  8. Fill tortillas with cabbage, shrimp, avocado, and cilantro.
  9. Drizzle with spicy cilantro lime sauce and top with cotija cheese if desired.
  10. Serve immediately with lime wedges.

Notes

Adjust the spice level by adding more or less jalapeño and hot sauce. Fresh lime juice gives the best flavor.
