Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 2.25 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup warm milk
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
Filling
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
Frosting
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 0.25 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or cream

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Mix dry dough ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Combine wet ingredients and mix into dry ingredients to form dough.
  3. Knead until smooth and let rise until doubled.
  4. Roll dough into rectangle and spread with butter and cinnamon filling.
  5. Roll into log, cut into rolls, and let rise again.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes.
  7. Prepare frosting by beating ingredients until creamy.
  8. Spread frosting over warm rolls and serve.

Notes

For best texture, use room temperature ingredients and avoid adding excess flour.
