Ingredients
  

Rice Base
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 cup yellow onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 0.5 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp ground cumin optional

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add rice and toast until lightly golden.
  2. Stir in onion and cook until softened. Add garlic and cook briefly.
  3. Add tomato sauce and stir to coat the rice evenly.
  4. Pour in broth, add salt and cumin, and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes without stirring.
  6. Remove from heat and let steam for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.

Notes

For best texture, avoid stirring while the rice simmers.
