Ingredients
  

Meatballs
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 small onion finely grated
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.33 cup milk
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp ground allspice
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
Creamy Gravy
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

Method
 

  1. Combine breadcrumbs and milk in a bowl and let soak for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix ground beef, ground pork, onion, garlic, egg, soaked breadcrumbs, parsley, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and allspice.
  3. Shape mixture into small meatballs.
  4. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet and brown meatballs in batches until cooked through.
  5. Remove meatballs and melt butter in the same skillet.
  6. Whisk flour into butter and cook until lightly golden.
  7. Slowly whisk in beef broth until smooth.
  8. Add heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer until thickened.
  9. Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 5 minutes.
  10. Serve warm with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.

Notes

For authentic flavor, serve with lingonberry jam and buttery mashed potatoes.
