Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 1.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3 tbsp ice water as needed
Filling
  • 3 apples peeled, cored, sliced
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp flour for thickening
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter cut into small pieces

Method
 

  1. Combine flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add ice water until dough forms. Chill 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss apple slices with sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour.
  3. Roll dough into 12-inch circle on floured surface. Transfer to parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Arrange apples in center, leaving 2-inch border. Dot with butter.
  5. Fold dough edges over apples, pleating as needed. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle sugar.
  6. Bake 35–40 minutes until crust is golden and apples are tender. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Brush warm galette with apricot jam for a glossy finish. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
