Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake tin with liners.
- Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract.
- Mix wet and dry ingredients together until just combined.
- Pour in hot water or coffee and mix until smooth.
- Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full with batter.
- Bake 18–22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Beat softened butter until fluffy. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream; whip until smooth.
- Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes and decorate with snowflakes.
Notes
For whiter frosting, use clear vanilla extract.
